It has been exactly 40 years since I started the profession…

Isn’t it like a joke?

I don’t feel like a “40-year-old journalist” at all, however…

As soon as I see the news as if I started my career only yesterday, I feel excited like the first day.

I guess my love of journalism hasn’t died yet despite 40 years…

Or rather, I should say that they did not kill.

My journalism adventure, which started as an amateur in Alanya during my high school years, turned into professional journalism in Konya in 1982 and continued at Babıali in Istanbul between 1985-1987.

I barely walked up and down the stairs of the Güneş Newspaper on Beyazıt slope with two Nikon cameras around my neck and a big bag on my back.

Do you know what good years those were?

Journalism had a great reputation.

Journalists loved the public, the profession, and the news.

The public also loved and respected journalists very much.

When you say journalist, the doors were opened wide, he was welcomed and sent off in the best way.

The public knew that journalists work for the public.The journalist knew that if he didn’t report for the public, he wouldn’t be doing his job.What beautiful days those were.Those were the days when we were pointed and pointed at saying “I am a journalist” in November.I will not say where we came from.I should say, where did we come from?When media bosses like Simaviler, Kemal Ilıcak, Dinç Bilgin were forced to withdraw from the sector, journalism ended that day.I will not write anything about the point of journalism today; because everyone sees and knows.Sadly, journalism is rapidly losing credibility.I fear that soon, journalism will be classified among the professions that are ‘disgusted’.It’s time for us journalists to put our hats on and think brooding and discuss what we can do to stop this bad trend.It is the journalists who will save journalism.The essence of the word; For the survival of our profession, we should be able to come together by putting aside our political preferences.Dot.Global Media Magazine is the only publication with the theme of “journalism exclusively” in our country.I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our editor Neşat Gündoğdu, my assistant Meryem Kanberoğlu, and all the members of our KGK Family who contributed with their articles and news, who have contributed to our 6th issue, which has been published this time, just like every 24 July Press Festival for 3 years.
